Crushed shims…

April 13, 2009 by Bill Collins

Wooden shims are often found in the crawlspace under load bearing beams or girders that are being crushed by the weight of the house. These shims should have been replaced during construction with metal shims specifically designed for this type of application. The shims would also help prevent unnecessary settlement of the structure causing Sheetrock cracks and possible interior doors from properly closing.
