It is very important the flashing around these protrusions be properly installed. The roofing shingles should be placed on top of the flashing and extend down both sides to the bottom side of the protruded pipe. The shingles should also be glued with roof cement to the flashing to prevent wind and rain from penetrating under and around the flashing.
